Microsoldering Services
What is Microsoldering?Microsoldering is the practice of repairing the tiny components found on a device's logic board, akin to brain surgery for electronics. What this entails is using a soldering iron or hot air rework station while working under a microscope to replace chips and components, rebuild damaged traces or pads, or implement new circuitry to fix an electrical issue. Microsoldering is often necessary after water damage, hard drops, or sudden electrical faults.
Microsoldering is a highly technical skill that takes years to master and is only offered commercially by a handful of repair shops in the entire Midwest region. Offering this service in-house means that instead of waiting multiple weeks for your device to be mailed offsite, most projects are completed in just a few days, or even a matter of hours, which is virtually unheard of for this kind of work. |
What if Apple or another repair shop said my device can't be fixed or my data is unrecoverable?
Apple does not offer any microsoldering services and apparently tells countless customers every year that their device cannot be repaired or data cannot be recovered when this is often fundamentally incorrect. Similarly, many repair shops that do not offer microsoldering services in-house are not familiar with this highly technical form of repair and often misunderstand what's possible.
So, don't be discouraged if you've already received bad news from an electronics repair provider that doesn't offer microsoldering services, and reach out for a quote today if you have a device that's suddenly dead, liquid damaged, severely physically damaged, or for anything else at all that you're hoping can still be resurrected, or holds precious data you need to recover.

Microsoldering Cost & Common Applications
The most common application of microsoldering is to repair liquid or physical damage for iPhones, MacBooks, or other mobile devices. Pricing is highly dependent on the nature and extent of damage, and you'll often need to bring your device in for a free diagnosis to obtain a meaningful quote for repair. On average, most iPhones, Android phones, iPads, or tablets receive quotes in the $100-350 range, while most MacBooks receive quotes in the $100-450 range. Depending on your specific case, you may receive a quote above or below this.
Microsoldering is also necessary to replace many charge ports, and useful in a variety of specialty applications. Pricing starts at $65, and services are available for everything from one off specialty repairs on professional hardware, to remedying an at home prior repair attempt gone wrong, or even soldering BGA chips onto custom PCBs you've developed yourself. There's rarely a task we can't tackle! |

One of the most difficult microsoldering repairs for iPhones, a cpu or board swap, is often used to recover data from a device that's been so severely damaged there's no hope of repairing the original circuit board. An iPhone 12 logic board with the cpu removed is shown above.
The iPhone & MacBook logic boards shown above were damaged by liquid exposure, which corrodes the electrical circuits inside your device, leaving behind something often resembling a war torn landscape. All three of these devices were successfully and affordably repaired using microsoldering practices, despite Apple or other repair shops having previously declared them absolutely impossible to repair.
